The Yorkshire Archaeological Society Publications

...

The Yorkshire Archaeological Society has two publication series. One is a journal and the other is a record series. Both series publish annually.

The Yorkshire Archaeological Society Journal

The first volume of the The Yorkshire Archaeological Society Journal was published in 1874 as The Yorkshire Archaeological and Topographical Society Journal. That title was used until the 1890s when the title was simplified -- dropping "and Topographical." Each volume was indexed until 1958. We checked the indexes of these volumes looking for references to Boyntons. With very few exceptions the information there has found its way into our website.

Early Yorkshire Charters

Charters from the twelfth and thirteenth centuries were gathered and published in a separate series called Early Yorkshire Charters with separate subtitles and volume numbers. Twelve volumes were published in the series.

Charles Travis Clay (1952) Early Yorkshire Charters; The Stuteville Fee, vol. IX, Yorkshire Archaeological Society Record Series.

These volumes were particularly helpful for identifying Walter de Boynton, who died in 1218, whose son was William and whose grandson was Ingram. Ingram was the first of the North Riding Boyntons.
