The Oldest Towers
The castle has been made more secure, added to, modernized and changed in many other ways since the end of the 14th century. The towers that most certainly were there when the Boyntons were visiting are two on the edge at the back of the castle.
They are two towers built into the wall -- as builders were wont to do when constructing castles. They remain in 14th century shape, which means tiny stairwells, low ceilings, inner walls as rough hewn as the outer walls. They appear to be used only as an extension of the museum of the castle.

This picture was taken from the main castle building, the keep; it was a considerable distance. You would not want to have to hurry from one of the towers to the main building of the castle. Postern tower is the tower on the left and Constable tower is the tower on the right.
